To all the families of St. Margaret's Landing, As you and your children start off this warm summer vacation, we would like to share with you a wonderful opportunity to get involved as a family in a worthwhile cause for one of our own. Many of you know of the brave journey that Joey Sudo has been on for the past years (www.carepages.com/carepages/JosephSudo) and Jumping for Joey is a new exciting event for you and your family to join him in his journey.
Jumping for Joey is a summer-long event that will launch with each child in St. Margaret's Landing receiving a “Joey Box.” The Joey Box is a plain white box that can be personalized and decorated by each child to be used as a savings box. How your family chooses to use these boxes will be up to you, but one way we suggest would be to set up a “to do list” for which your child would “earn” funds to put into these savings boxes. For example, they may earn funds for doing chores (putting away the dishes, taking out the trash, cleaning their room :), etc.) or by helping a neighbor (walking a neighbor's dog), keeping in mind that all activities should be tailored to your child's unique strengths. This could be a great opportunity for you and your family to come together and share in the love and support of our community.
The culmination of this event will occur at the end of the summer at a family fun-filled day of celebration August 27 2011 in the cul-de-sac across from home of the Sudos.
The entire neighborhood will come together on this day and all the “Joey Boxes” will be showcased on a table at the event. Parents, friends, and all desired parties are welcomed and encouraged to match or contribute additional funds to the funds raised by the “Joey Boxes.” This celebration will be filled with fun activities such as: a delicious BBQ, jump rope station, hula hoop station, bake sale, obstacle course and much more! Everyone contributing a “Joey Box” and participating in this day will also receive a Jumping for Joey T-shirt.
More updates will be coming your way (such as the pick-up date for the “Joey Boxes,” information on volunteer meetings, instructions on making donations), so please look out for information throughout the summer.
